Gastrointestinal and Colorectal Procedures

North Scarborough Endoscopy Clinic provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic, screening, and therapeutic procedures performed in a modern outpatient setting.

Diagnostic and Screening Procedures

A colonoscopy allows physicians to examine the lining of the colon and rectum. It plays an important role in colorectal cancer screening, investigation of symptoms, and identification of abnormalities such as polyps.

Gastroscopy enables direct examination of the esophagus, stomach, and upper digestive tract and may be recommended to investigate symptoms such as reflux, abdominal discomfort, or swallowing difficulties.

This procedure allows evaluation of portions of the small intestine beyond the reach of a standard gastroscopy.

Flexible sigmoidoscopy is used to examine the lower portion of the colon and rectum and may assist in diagnosing a variety of gastrointestinal conditions.

When appropriate, tissue samples (biopsies) can be collected during endoscopic procedures, and polyps may be removed for further analysis.

Why Early Detection Matters

Many gastrointestinal conditions can be identified and treated more effectively when evaluated early.

Screening and diagnostic procedures play an important role in:
